Vermicomposting & Worm Tea

Three moms wanting better for their friends, families and communities!

Vermicomposting

Earthworms speed up the composting process, aerate the organic material, and enhance the finished compost with nutrients and enzymes from their digestive tracts. The best kind of earthworms to use are red worms, also known as "red wigglers" and "manure worms".

Red worms are excellent at breaking down decaying organic materials, creating a nutrient-rich substance for your garden. These aren't the type of worm typically found in a yard or garden. Dirt alone isn't enough to keep red worms happy, but a little garden modification makes the garden a suitable place for them. With the addition of plant scraps, bins or composting trenches around the garden, the red worms will not only thrive but will turn the garden soil into a healthy environment for your growing garden.

Worm Castings

Worm castings contains minerals such as concentrated nitrates, potassium, magnesium, calcium, and phosphorus. Worm castings are also a 100% organic fertilizer that can increase a plant's yield, protect both soil and plants from diseases, and help the soil retain moisture.

Castings is the rich digested soil that red wiggler worms leave behind. Savvy gardeners know them to be chock-full of organic plant food, plus beneficial microbes that aid plant growth and help fight off disease.

Worm castings make soil more absorbent, making moisture more consistently available to plants and preventing soil from completely drying out. Worms introduce uncountable numbers of beneficial microbes and bacteria into the finished product, guaranteeing the healthiest soil possible. In addition, castings contain humic acid which aids plant nutrient absorption. Studies show that germination and seedling growth is improved by planting in worm castings. In short, worm castings are the super food of garden plants!

Worm Tea (Spray)

Worm tea is an organic liquid fertilizer derived from worm castings, and is a powerful soil nutrient that contains all the benefits of worm castings. It gives your plants a boost and works quickly to provide your garden powerful nutrients. Worm castings can be used to produce an all-natural fertilizer and pesticide called worm casting tea.
